The Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY:NYSE)

The Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY) is an energy company which, along with its subsidiaries, acquires, explores and develops oil and gas properties. It was founded in 1920 (marking 100 years in business) and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

The company operates through three segments: Oil & Gas, Chemical and Midstream and Marketing. The first segment, oil & gas, explores, develops, and produces oil and condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and natural gas.

The Chemical segment manufactures and markets basic chemicals. These include chlorine, caustic soda, chlorinated organics, potassium chemicals, ethylene dichloride, chlorinated isocyanurates, sodium silicates, and calcium chloride; vinyls comprising vinyl chloride monomer, polyvinyl chloride, and ethylene.

The midstream and marketing segment purchases, accumulates, processes, transports, and markets oil, condensate, NGLs, natural gas, carbon dioxide, and power. This segment also trades around its assets consisting of transportation and storage capacity; and invests in entities.

The company has operations in United States, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The company has 11,678 employees and as of 31st December 2020, 2.911 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
